Alfred-Olivier Savoie - Maitre D’

I grew up in a small town in the Acadian Peninsula. I was part of a bigger family where big dinners were almost a weekly thing, so it was natural that I always had an attraction to food, but it’s the atmosphere that I liked the most. People enjoying each other’s company, laughter and LOTS of food. In my twenties, it was a bit of a loss to know what to do with my future; I worked in a small cafe downtown Moncton where I fell in love with that same atmosphere in a place where I could actually participate in the creation of that magical moment every day. I have worked since then in all kinds of establishments at various levels and always enjoyed it. I even considered going to a butler school in Bruxels! With wine there was an instant connection, there is no information that I could not devour about the subject. From varietals to soil to winemaking techniques, I was only still just scratching the surface. After twenty plus years in this business, I would not change my career and the fact that I can pass down knowledge to others is one of the most rewarding things in my life.
